What's with the name?

When we were researching this little chunk of land we had our eyes on, we were a bit tickled to discover that the subdivision of the property is known as Higbee Hollow.  You just can't make a name like that up!

Higbee is a surname that has quite a bit of history behind it in the West Lakeland Township area.  A few years back, the country vet was a Higbee.  Today, a number of family members still live on the original homestead (which once covered many acres), including the lovely women we bought our land from.

I'm sure we would love our land just has much if it were called Bert's Bramble, but you have to agree that Higbee Hollow does have a sweeter ring to it - in a very Winnie The Pooh sort of way.
